Shaman Series: the masks of Armando Tinnirello
The “Shaman Series” pictures of the italian Artist Armando Tinirello represents a new collaboration for ArtForBurma, being possible thanks to the help of the Manifiesto Blanco association.
We are very proud to present it with the words of the Artist himself:
“The artist in contemporary society wants to rediscover the sense of the sacred because he lives on a planet altered and distorted by his very own actions. Nature today has been unveiled and is time after time violated. Where once reigned the sacred, now there is complete unveiling, the loss of deep meaning and the obliteration of all that is mysterious. The ‘Veil of Isis’ has been raised, we face the mystery of nature without any form of mediation, without fearing its consequences; we force the entire planet to adapt to our needs.
With my masks I revisit the roots of contemporary art; I look to Picasso and Matisse and, like them, I delve in search of a world view that is profoundly rooted in the cosmos. Thus I approach primitivism as an innocent glance, as a perspective of the Earth that surpasses reality because it lives within the
dimension of our minds; the mask represents the entire being.
The mask hides as much as it reveals; while concealing it manifests the humane and the mysterious forces of nature that influence it, since we are also mystery.
The photo-collage technique inherently has the purpose of unveiling while disguising; colour blends the shapes. The impact is that of a hybrid work, thanks to this multifaceted character, which is the essence of what was and what will be. Amidst this we can see the flux made visible through the
overlapping of the techniques I adopt. Today our task is to rediscover the sacred, only in this way can we save all mankind. My art is a cry against the model of unsustainable growth which is annihilating nature and mankind. Primarily, what we are destroying are our own thoughts and in order to create these thoughts, we must learn to feel and hence to imagine.”
